Miss Dior

“Make me a perfume that smells like love,” said Monsieur Dior, when he asked Paul Vacher to compose the fragrance that became a cult favourite in 1947.

Miss Dior was born of those evenings in Provence, alive with fireflies, where young jasmine plays a descant to the melody of the night and the land…”

Miss Dior was born at the same time as the New Look, like an olfactory revolution. In a celebration of femininity, this fragrance pays special tribute to the couturier’s adored sister, Catherine Dior, nicknamed Miss Dior. She was a member of the French Resistance and an exceptional flower grower with a unique strength of character.

Catherine Dior, circa 1940.

Collection Christian Dior Parfums, Paris

This iconic scent, in its distinctive houndstooth engraved bottle, has been constantly reinvented ever since. Continuing this floral odyssey, Miss Dior is also the name of a dress designed in 1949 and entirely embroidered with thousands of silk flowers. This grandiose creation, combining nature and Haute Couture, has been reinterpreted by Christian Dior’s successors, and has today inspired Eva Jospin. The French artist, known for her dreamlike landscapes carved in cardboard, has designed an incredible piece of embroidery for La Galerie Dior that celebrates the poetry and delicacy of Miss Dior.
